Prineville Crook County Chamber & Visitor Center

Explore Prineville is a tourism initiative launched by the Prineville – Crook County Chamber of Commerce in the fall of 2023. Designed to promote local, regional, and state tourism efforts, Explore Prineville partners with Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) to inspire travel while preserving the area’s unique culture and heritage.

Our mission is to create positive social, environmental, and economic impacts for Prineville and Crook County by showcasing our rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant community.

The ongoing development of this tourism plan will guide the future direction of the Tourism and Visitor Center staff, ensuring informed decisions about tourism efforts and resource allocation to achieve long-term success.

The tourism program’s primary focus remains on fostering positive social, environmental, and economic impacts while maintaining the authenticity of our community’s culture and heritage.

Economic Impact

With Oregon’s tourism industry topping $14 billion in visitor spending annually, there is tremendous opportunity to capture a portion of this revenue by promoting recreation and visitation within our region.

Tourism spending injects additional funds into the local economy, supporting small business growth, stability, and job creation. Additionally, revenue collected through Transient Room Taxes (TRTs) is reinvested in programs, events, initiatives, and infrastructure improvements that enhance both the visitor experience and the overall quality of life for local residents.
